ABOUT ME

I am an economist at the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, where I hold the Robert Brookings Smith Distinguished Professorship of Entrepreneurship. From 2008-17 I was the chair of the Economics Area at Olin. I am also the Research Director of the Koch Center for Family Business at Olin.

I live in St. Louis with my wife Ursula and my twins Nina and Bogdan. My hobbies include fencing (actually, watching my kids compete in foil and epee!), reptiles, NFL (still a Rams fan!), MLB, and the NHL. I am originally from Santa Barbara, California.
